Cholla Sunrise

This spectacular sunrise lasted only a couple of minutes so by the time I got my camera and positioned myself, I only got two shots. Thankfully, one was in focus. In my rush to get into position below the cholla skeleton, I bumped into a particularly nasty Prickly Pear Cactus. Was it worth getting glocids in the side of my head? I got the shot so;..Yes 🙂

Captured in my backyard this morning.

That WAS a short sunrise! I watched it develop, and just as quickly fade into grays and blues.

Was it one of those so-called bunny-ear cacti, deceptively soft-looking until you touch it? Remember: duct tape!

  2. Not the bunny-ear…although they’ve fooled me at least once 🙂
This Oputia grew from a pad given to me years ago and I’ve never ID’d it. The rims of the pads are LOADED with glocids. I’ll send a photo.

  3. Ouch! Did you pick them all out?

  4. Because they’re on my scalp, it’s impossible to get them all out with my hair in the way but I was able to get most of them. The rest irritate you for a few weeks 🙁

I’m glad you captured that marvelous sunrise – I saw it from my patio but didn’t get my camera in time.
