DroidX FX

I admit that the hundreds of camera related iPhone apps made joining the Apple Core really appealing. That’s especially true for people like me who use their phone mostly as a camera 🙂 BUT…there are new apps showing up all the time for the Droid OS so I’ll just be patient. In the meantime, I consider it a challenge to be more creative with what I have! Today’s image is a composite of 4 images captured on our walk this morning. I used an app called Camera Zoom FX. Settings were color fx/spectrum)

Pixel Bender

A Droid X shot of last light yesterday with Pixel Bender added. Fun stuff 🙂

Fendlers Sandwort

Fendler’s Sandwort is so tiny that my photographer companion Dave and I thought the pink you see were spots on the petals. It wasn’t until I moved in very close that I discovered the pink was actually pollen. Cool! It was captured with a Canon 70-200 (non IS) with 25mm extension tube at 72mm. (Handheld of course 🙂 ) ISO 200, 1/100the sec at f/7.1. I continue to be very impressed with this lens!

Marine Blue

Marine Blues are one of the most encountered butterflies here. The blue color of the top of their wings gives them their name but good luck catching one open! As other Blues, this one is very small. Canon 100mm lens hand held. ISO 400, 1/800th sec at f/4.

Ceraunus Blue

The blade of grass gives you and idea of how tiny this Ceraunus Blue is! Captured with Canon 7D, Canon 300mm IS, ISO 400, 1/800th sec at f/4.

Ladder-backed Woodpecker

My first sighting of a Ladder-backed Woodpecker and I see two right outside my kitchen window! I wondered if they might be fledglings because feathers on their heads were a little sparse. I searched online and read that juveniles of both sexes have red on their heads so I might be right. Light rain and a slightly dirty window kept me from getting a really clear shot but once again, I have a photo for the day 🙂

Blue

An unidentified Blue on Sneezeweed with a bit of artistic interpretation.

Saguaro Face

I see creatures in Saguaro scars and this one called to me on my walk this morning 🙂
