Salt River

I have Larry Levy to thank for this gorgeous view! Yesterday, four of us bushwhacked our way across high desert going through several thick stands of brush and Mesquite trees and have the scars to show for it. Our ultimate goal was to try to find some ruins that had been spotted high on a cliff by river rafters but we gave up on that and instead ventured over to see where Coon Creek enters the Salt River. More photos tomorrow.

Red Mountain Ghost Town

Red Mountain Mining Town was once home to 10,000 people. There are still many buildings and remnants of mining left behind. These particular buildings were on the other side of the street from the mine and are being maintained by historians in Ouray, CO.

Update: These buildings are not the town but are in an abandoned Mining Camp at Red Mountain Pass. See Oct 14 post.

Grand Canyon

This shot of the Grand Canyon was captured with a Canon Powershot and although I liked the composition, the image was very flat. I thought I’d try some filters on it and this is the result.
