Tarantula and Chris

Today’s post is for a couple of friends who wanted to see the fun I had with this Tarantula photo. What was even more fun, though, was taking the photo! I used my Canon compact, got on my stomach and positioned the camera lens almost touching the spider. Thankfully, he/she was OK with that 🙂

Arizona Trail

Several trails off Snowbowl Road intersect with the Arizona Trail. Today my friend Judi and I hiked a portion that starts close to Aspen Corner and goes past Apsen Nature Loop. This particular trail goes all the way to Bismark Lake. At about the 2 mile mark, is the most spectacular stand of Aspens and the forest is thick with ferns. I could have stayed for hours just photographing but that’s not Judi’s thing and I knew I’d be coming back in mid August. Can’t wait!

Take a Hike

Hiking season with the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy is in full swing so come out and join us! There are fitness hikes and educational hikes…..generally one of each on the weekends. This morning, we learned about Holes, Tracks and Scat in the Desert from leader Len Marciz. Excellent! (Droidx image)

Schultz Creek Trail Aspens

This was a challenging scene to capture because the best vantage point was down a steep embankment off Schultz Pass Road. Totally worth the effort, though! Hope the color isn’t too far off. I’ve been transitioning to a new computer for a couple of weeks now and I’m not working on a calibrated monitor.

Rock Knob
