Common Dandelion

(I’m still sharing images from Aspen Nature Loop). Here’s a common Dandelion in its seed stage. My plan was to capture a few of the seeds flying away but it was SO windy, I was lucky to get this shot. I’ll be back in Flag a couple more times over the summer so I’ll get another chance. (Diffuse glow added around edges. Background is back-lit Aspen leaves.)

Seed Head

I shot this and many other images of Dandelion seed heads this past Spring with texture blending in mind. The process is very easy but success can be hit or miss depending on the type and color of texture you use on top of your image. This was one of the rare times when it worked perfectly. I love how it came together.

I applied 4 textures downloaded free from Image Abstraction and Flickr.

Weed Seeds

I’m not positive what flower this was but it looks like a Dandelion. Whatever it is, I could have spent an hour or more photographing it! I’m typically with others, though, and have to grab a quick shot. I was fortunate to have a mass of yellow flowers behind this one which really sets it off. (Captured with the Canon 24-105mm lens at 60mm. ISO 400. 500th sec @f/5.0).
