Lensbaby Luminaria

A composite of two images taken at the Desert Botanical Garden Luminaria this year and last. The stars (this year) are a result of using a Creative Aperture Disk in my Lensbaby which turns any point of light into the shape cutout of the disk. The kit includes some blank disks too so you might see some kitties in the near future 🙂

Lensbaby Stars and couple were both captured at ISO 1600.

Happy Holidays

Wishing everyone Joy, Peace and Happiness.

Marcus Landslide Sunrise

Sunrise over the Marcus Landslide (the rippling ground at the end of the rays) as seen from Sven Tower II. A little chilly this morning but totally worth it. Thanks, Chris, for being my Sherpa. 🙂

Morning After Storm

Wow! Did we have a heck of a storm last night! Lightning and very high winds woke us up and everyone else, I’m guessing. Although this rain didn’t fall during the so called perfect time frame for wildflower germination, our Spring showing could still be a good one! (Morning After Storm clouds over McDowell Mountains)

Sunflower Mines

Larry Levy, our mining expert friend, led us on a fabulous hike to see the Sunflower Mines this past Sunday. My SUV did some serious 4 wheeling! A dark and overcast day but HDR brought images to life. CLICK HERE for information about the mine. CLICK HERE to go to a Flash Gallery of my images from the hike. Extra large images but video not included. (refresh page if it doesn’t start). CLICK HERE to go to my YouTube Channel. Look for Sunflower Mines. (includes a couple of short videos).

Mitigation

Lots of trail work needed to mitigate some deep ruts on the mountain bike course of the McDowell Sonoran Challenge. (The ruts were caused by motorbikes which are no longer allowed). The event is January 29, 2011 so time’s a wastin’ as they say!

MSC Stewards hard at work.

McCormick Railroad Park

We checked out McCormick Railroad Park for the first time this past Saturday night and found out what the big deal was! First…it’s a must for anyone with children or if you are a child at heart. For me, it was a chance to see their elaborate light displays. Thomas the Train (upper right) greeted us at the entrance and it just got better from there. Fun, fun 🙂

Holiday Lights

Holiday lights drive-bys last night. Love the Saguaros wrapped in lights!
