Saguaro Cactus Blooms

With all the other cactus putting on such a good show this year, I am surprised our Saguaros are not as full of blooms as past years. Another thing I’ve noticed is a lower population of bees. This image was captured a few years ago.

Interestingly, a very good year for palo verde flowers. However, many of the the past ten years have been poor years for the palos verdes. Last year was a poor showing, which can explain in part the poor year for bees this year. Next year should be a better year for the bees. And better for the rodents who depend on palo verde beans, too. I wonder how the dove population, especially the white-wings, will be affected by the poor saguaro-fruit year.
