Breakfast for Butterflies

This is an old image I updated by adding textures. The butterfly was photographed at the Butterfly Pavilion at the Desert Botanical Garden. The garden no longer houses as many varieties as in past years. They now mostly have Monarchs. Still fun to see but not as exciting.

Deers Ears

There are several common names for this very cool plant……Green Gentian, Elkweed, Deers Ears and Monument Plant. It typically grows in open pine forests and aspen-conifer forests at elevations over 5000 feet. It can reach 8 feet in height but if there are Deer or Elk in the area, you’re not likely to see them that tall because they are a favorite food. Thankfully, they usually leave some of the gorgeous flowers for us to enjoy 🙂

Shape Collage

I’m teaching a class in basic compositing next week. These days there are multiple softwares that make the process completely automatic but knowing how to create one from scratch can help you tweak the automatic ones and make them your own.

Buddha with Flowers

I captured this stone Buddha with the specific intention of creating a montage. That was in September, 2003! Better late than never….this montage is a combination of the stone mask, a butterfly, two shots of Verbena and 3 different textures. I did also apply a texture of cracks but thought it was too harsh. It took awhile but I’m happy with my interpretation!
