Butterflies only come out on sunny days so I didn’t see many. Wildflowers were also spotty but I did manage to get some photos of both. I’ll start with the butterflies and bugs and follow up with Wildflowers.

Pinesap is a Mycotrophic Wildflowers meaning it gets its nutrients from a host (pine trees) but it’s a healthy relationship 🙂
Lockett Meadow Wildflowers (Indian Paintbrush, Fleabane, Lupine and Purple Loco Weed) I photogragraphed this scene from under an umbrella 🙂

Old Cattle Tank near Aspen Corner surrounded by Coreopsis and other Wildflowers. A great place for Butterflies, bugs and Dragonflies. Not this time, though.
Aspen Face – Of course I had to include one more 🙂
Rain pelting down on my SUV. Shot through my RV window.
Two smartphone images shot through my RV window and combined in my latest editing app; Photoshop Touch.
Shot with my Smartphone as I was leaving the Campground. Raining of course!
Awesome images on all the posts from Flagstaff. Your work amazes me as always!
Thanks, Pam!
Oh the wildflowers are just amazing – I would be in heaven. Love all your photos and the rain ones are fun! Shame about the lack of butterflies due to the weather but they are gorgeous ones that you captured. So pleased your two trips were good for you for the fungi and you are not put off by rain. I know I’d have packed up and gone home….. 🙂
So happy you like them, Mandy! Rain was a given so I was well prepared. However, if it hadn’t been so rainy, I would have spent much more time with flowers. I especially wanted to play with my Lensbaby which I got an adapter for so it would fit on my mirrorless. Next year!
I’ll be back in a just a couple of weeks photographing fall color. Always so much fun and typically dry 🙂
Another wonderful series of posts Marianne. Such variety among the fungi! Great to see the results you are getting with “minimal gear” too. Cheers from the Southern Hemisphere 🙂
Thanks so much for taking the time to look and to comment, Peter! Having minimal gear was fantastic. Nothing to weigh me down on the long and very steep hikes. In hindsight, I wish I’d included my Mirrorless more often. I became very good at protecting my gear so it would have been fine and it doesn’t weigh much. Next time!
Stay tuned for fall color in a couple of weeks from the same areas. It will be mostly dry this time 🙂
Really spectacular (as usual) Wish I could have been there.
Thanks, Joni! I’ll be going up to see the fall color in a couple of weeks but there’s always next year!
