Drover’s Shack

One of my favorite photo ops at Boyce Thompson Arboretum is the area devoted to the deserts of Australia. It’s filled with Eucalyptus Trees and other flora from that country. To add authenticity, they even built a Drover’s (sheep herders) Shack and a Windmill. There is also an old rusty pickup truck to complete the picture.  DroidX photo

Ryan Ranch

There is a lot of very interesting history associated with Joshua Tree National Park like Ryan’s Ranch, for instance. Unfortunately vandals either took or destroyed most of the buildings and other things associated with ranching and mining there.
