Camp Creek Infrared

I led two photographers to Camp Creek Falls yesterday. No flowers to speak of but the creek was flowing which is always wonderfully refreshing to encounter in the desert! (Infrared capture of the creek and photographer friend Ed Y.)

Camp Creek

My 3 friends had never been to Camp Creek and later confessed they thought I was exaggerating about the amount of water. Now it’s their favorite place too 🙂

Sand Ripples

We were really lucky to arrive in Zion during stormy weather. It meant we would have fresh sand ripples to photograph after the washes stopped flowing and there were some very interesting ones! I especially liked these as they reminded me of Fyords. The fall color reflection was a huge bonus.

Lower Pine Creek Falls Zion

Our friend Richard has been coming to Zion for years but had never seen the falls so we decided to re-visit before we left. No complaints from me especially since I regretted not capturing a side view of the falls. Didn’t get wet this time, thanks to Chris 🙂

Oak Creek Reflections

The reflected colors are from the sky, red rocks and Sycamore trees.

Cool Thoughts

When it gets really hot, reviewing my archived water images leads to cool and refreshing thoughts of upcoming trips to places with streams and waterfalls…ahhhh. Mind over matter, right?! This image of a Mallard breaking up fall color reflections was taken last October on the West Fork Trail. One shot and the duck flew away. At first I almost deleted the image because it was kind of in between abstract and sharp but the more I look at it, the more I like it.
