Tarantula and Chris

Today’s post is for a couple of friends who wanted to see the fun I had with this Tarantula photo. What was even more fun, though, was taking the photo! I used my Canon compact, got on my stomach and positioned the camera lens almost touching the spider. Thankfully, he/she was OK with that 🙂

Goldfield Ghost Town

Our Meetup group had a shoot at Goldfield Ghost Town this morning. I couldn’t make it until later so the sun was nice and bright by the time I got there. I used Topaz and Nik filters to rescue some of the photos.

Sonoran Storm

We’ve had two great days of rain in the last week so I’ve had to dodge raindrops to get a photo for the day. Black/White by Topaz Labs.

Black Tailed Gnatcatcher

I assisted on an MSC Birding hike in the Preserve yesterday (Sunday) with fellow steward Phil H. who knows most all of the birds in our area. Lucky us! The hike started out with NO birds which seemed strange because there was no wind and it wasn’t as cold as it had been. On the way back, though, Phil brought out his iPhone to let us hear what certain birds sound like and low and behold, we started seeing birds! This was my first sighting of a Black Tailed Gnatcatcher (must be a female or a juvenile). My lens only went to 100mm so this is a VERY tight crop and I was pleasantly surprised to see I caught the bird singing. He was more than likely responding to Phil’s iPhone app 🙂

Rainy Morning Quail

How can I resist feeding these guys on a cold/rainy morning 🙂

Cold Front Coming

We haven’t really had a fall here yet (temperature wise, that is) but that’s pretty typical. We go from daytime 80s to daytime 60s overnight. Just perfect for decorating my tree this weekend 🙂

That’s Fall Folks!

You might find a red Maple leaf here and there but Sedona’s fall color is pretty much done. I had a great time and really look forward to next year!

Oak Creek Fall Reflections

I’ve spent 10 days camping next to Oak Creek and now it’s time to go home…darn. Here’s a parting shot from Oak Creek which is just steps from my campsite. This campground is so popular, I just made reservations for next fall! (I wanted to be sure to get a spot on Oak Creek). Fall color or not, I can’t wait 🙂 See more of my Sedona fall photos on my G+ page. gplus.to/ezpixels
