Leona’s

If you’ve photographed El Santuario, you’ve probably also visited Leona’s Restaurante since it is located right next door to the mission. Leona is known for her tamales which she ships nationwide. I’m pretty shy about people photography but her restaurant was so colorful I didn’t hesitate to ask her for a photograph. In return, she received a large print. (2004)

    I second the recommendation for Leona’s – on your next visit check out the nearby Chimayo Mercantile and Trading center for top shelf pottery and art work.

    The mission is on the road to Taos going from Santa Fe. Worth the visit!

    Love this shot, it tells such a story. Pulling back to get the whole picture can work so well sometimes. Makes me want to take a road trip!
