Red River Paper recently introduced a panorama sized card that uses a standard number 10 business envelope. The paper is 60lb Premium Matte paper which renders both color and black and white very well. Above are some cards I just printed. None of the photos are actually panoramas but have been cropped to fit. Cropping can be a fun exercise since it makes a completely new photo!

DIG
DIG is the acronym for the Digital Imaging Group. We meet the first Tuesday of every month at the Mustang Library on 90th Street (Scottsdale). Today we had a demo on the new features of Photoshop CS4 including the Extended version.
water lily
I went to the Desert Botanical Gardens a couple of days ago hoping to get a shot of the Monarch Butterflies before the exhibit closed. Not much luck with the Monarchs but I did find this beautiful water lily in the enclosure’s pond.
sentinels
Saguaro Cactus have been nicknamed The Sentinels of the Desert and it’s easy to see why. This morning we did a 5 1/2 mile hike through a forest of these amazing cactus and learned all about them thanks to our MSC hike leader, Dave Lorenz. One of the most fascinating things is that the Saguaro seed is smaller than a poppy seed! We don’t see many baby Saguaros because of the extraordinary set of circumstances that have to exist in order for them to germinate.

We have the most amazing rock formations here like this area called the Amphitheater Rocks. Today’s hike featured how they were formed.

tarantula
This guy greeted me at the very beginning of my first hike at Bandelier Nat’l Monument last month. He made lots of impressive and threatening moves but I wasn’t dissuaded. I later guided him to the underbrush so he wouldn’t get tromped on. Happy Halloween big guy!
McDowell Mountains
I shot 39 vertical images to create this panorama of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Arizona. When and if the preservation goal can be reached, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve will cover one third of Scottsdale. Pretty cool!

While Chris was hiking over Wilson Mountain in Sedona, I was moving and shaking my camera on the West Fork Trail. He ended up with a good sized bump on his knee and I ended up with the above. We both had a totally excellent time!
