After yesterday’s photo, I was inspired to shoot in black and white so here are a few images captured in my yard using my Infrared converted Canon 5D.

Here’s another one of my favorites JT shots. I love how Infrared transforms Joshua Trees. (Click Here for info on Camping)
Infrared Joshua Tree
arch rock in joshua tree national park
Joshua Tree is an extremely well laid out Park providing easy access for photographers of almost any fitness level. Amazing photo ops are available right from your car, very close to the road or within 1/2 mile or less from your car if you’re not inclined to hike. The best part is that the Park is less than 5 hours from Scottsdale! We’re eager to go back. (Click Here for info on Camping)
Arch Rock is 1/2 mile round trip from the parking area.
joshua tree before and after dark
Joshua Tree National Park is perfect for infrared so my converted 5D got a workout this week. Today’s image has a glow courtesy of Lightroom’s Clarity slider. Blue skies come from Lightroom’s HSL sliders and Photoshop’s Hue/Saturation. (Nik or Topaz might have been faster but they tend to add too much noise).
Capturing stars is a challenge! The most challenging for me is staying up late 🙂  (Click Here for info on Camping)

infrared desert
I have been neglecting my infrared camera! Here’s a shot from Pinnacle Peak Park.
LifePixel is the company I used to convert my camera. If you’re thinking about converting an old camera, whether compact or SLR), click here for answers to any question you might have.
chapel in the rocks
One of the must sees in Sedona is the Chapel of the Holy Cross. This modern structure was built in the 50s.
Here’s an infrared scene from the Chapel Trail across the parking lot.
cathedral rock, sedona
Hiked up the back side of Cathedral Rocks and then down to Oak Creek this afternoon.
This is the first time I’ve photographed them from this side. Steep in places but short.
bluff history
Bluff, Utah was a very interesting stop with many photo ops so we’re eager to stay longer next time.
This cemetery was high above the town giving us a spectacular 360 degree view.
walking the cats
We’ve been seeing Bobcats every day and yesterday saw a female with 2 kittens!
So…I try to walk the cats near the house but they quickly head toward the desert.
After all, there’s nothing to hunt in the driveway 🙂
