Some cool clouds this morning and a promise of rain. We can hope!

This eerie sun and clouds turned out to be a result of a fire about 40 miles away. Over 1000 acres of brush, mostly Tamarisk (Salt Cedar), were burning in the Salt River bed. These trees produce a really dark smoke.

Fluffy clouds are a rarity here so I enjoy shooting them when they show up. Continuing to stare through my lens makes me see all kinds of things 🙂

When I saw this fallen tree and the fantastic clouds, I instantly knew I wanted to mirror the scene. Shot at last light with a Canon 5D (IR converted).
Encelia farinosa
Encelia farinosa is out in force in the McDowell Mountains and everywhere else too. Interesting clouds also caught my eye.
