Exploring moss with a macro lens while holding an umbrella.
I would venture to guess that most people don’t think of moss and
Arizona as being compatible but this resides on a granite boulder by
our driveway. In summer, you’d think it was completely dead but just
a little rain and it springs to life. Can’t wait to go exploring here again!

Palo Verde Trunk
This Foothill Palo Verde trunk caught my attention yesterday. The Foothill PV is usually easy to identify because of the horizontal banding on the bark. The motion was added by zooming my lens as I snapped the shutter. I then added some more color and contrast.
Bundle up
Clothing is this month’s photo assignment in one of my groups. This jacket has a felted shearling lining that is so toasty warm! I used a macro lens and available window light.
Cloe
Cloe is Cleo’s sister. She thought it only fair that she be introduced too. Brother and sister were rescued in September of 2006 from a shelter. I named Cleo first after the cat in Pinocchio only to realize later that the cat’s name was Figaro. But my mistake stuck and I then reversed the last two letters of his name for his sister. She gets tired of having to spell it for people, though, since most want to put in an h after the c.

IKEA in infrared
My first photo of the year was supposed to be fireworks but they
start way too late at night! So, here is a photo from a trip to IKEA
yesterday afternoon. A really fun store! I shot this with an infrared
converted Canon S3 IS set to a custom white balance.
