I’ve been seeing lots of Spicebush Swallowtails but have yet to get a shot with wings spread. This was taken hand held with my point and shoot.

showing his colors
The butterflies and moths must have told each other about our Lantana because I’ve never seen so many show up! Yesterday the plants were covered with Painted Ladies and among them I saw this guy. Finally a chance to catch the color on the wings of this Sphinx moth.
sulphur
Cloudless Sulphur butterflies showed up a day after the Skippers.
Sphinx moth
When the yellow Lantana come into full bloom, I begin looking for Sphinx moths. Unfortunately, they start showing up after dark and I’m no good with flash. I hope I didn’t blind the little guy.
Hylephila phyleus
These tiny butterflies caught my eye as I was passing by the dining room window yesterday afternoon. I’m 99.9 percent sure this is a Fiery Skipper (Hylephila phyleus).
Shot hand held with Canon 180mm Macro.
Lantana
Not wildflowers but these Lantana may be a sign of wild blooms to come!
I’ll be thinking about macro photography during my test this morning 🙂
