are you losing your memory?

For the past year and a half, I’ve been putting up with extreme slow downs in Photoshop.
(you thought I was going talk about aging, didn’t you 🙂 ) Because I haven’t had much time
for photography, I’ve put up with it but when I started having to restart Photoshop after
only one simple task, I finally took the time to figure it out. Not that I hadn’t tried a million
things already…including buying more memory…but this time I googled until I found an
answer. Long story short…FONTS!

How can you have a proper Halloween, for instance, without these?!

Yes…I admit it. I’m a nut for fun fonts. I have animals, flowers, holiday themes, etc.
I have hundreds, I’m sure! Well, a single font or maybe more had become corrupted.
The simple solution (for me anyway) was to turn off font preview in Photoshop.
Problem solved! My memory is running at 100%. I then turned font preview back on
but chose “small” preview and so far so good.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could do something equally simple to get ours back? 🙂

  1. I really like your new blog face. I especially like the three panoramas you created. nice work… very nice. I have been sitting at my computer going through all three over and over (using refresh like a new toy). Kinda of cool how you did Superstitions in B/W (or is it infra red?) Not sure but either way makes it feel more superstitious. 🙂

  2. Thanks for your note, Carol. I keep refreshing the page too 🙂

You made me realize that I should have been specific regarding the panoramas. The infrared and sunset mountains are the McDowells where I live. The kind of bluish one is the Superstitions. By the way…the Superstitions pano was shot with my SX10! Just remember…if you shoot a panorama with your SX10, be sure to set the camera on Manual. That assures that all exposures will match. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to blend images that each have slightly different exposures!

  3. Oops. Silly me. I can now clearly see it. However, initially when I went through all three I thought the sunset and the bluish looked the same (I am embarrassed to say that) but now I can see how wrong I was. Sheesh, I need a new pair of glasses!!! Thanks for letting me know. I guess bluish is also sort of superstitious-ish. 🙂 I can’t believe how my brain (and eyes) went with the whole other idea. Oh well.
