Being a “Morning Person”, I love summers in Arizona! It is the only time of day cool enough to get anything done and I relish every hour. I do long hikes at least 4 times a week and in Summer I’m always up before the sun. Of course I am never without a camera in hand so I get lots of sunrise shots. On the other hand, I get very few sunsets. I’m ready for bed by that time \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Following are sunrises from the past few days. You might be interested to know these were taken with either my smartphone or a very small compact camera! The image files from these devices are good enough for 11×14 inch prints and larger in some cases. In fact, the image quality and performance at high ISOs from the latest phones and compacts is SO good that I rarely carry my DSLR anymore. My hiking camera arsenal consists of my smartphone, a Canon Powershot N and a Canon Powershot SX50. All 3 together weigh less than my DSLR so you can imagine it’s been extremely liberating! Without further ado, here are my sunrises from the Preserve.<\/p>\n
