Near the beginning of my hike this morning, 5 blooms on an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/swbiodiversity.org\/seinet\/taxa\/index.php?taxon=1678\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona Queen of the Night<\/a><\/strong> greeted me! <a href=\"http:\/\/ezpixels.com\/mscblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/mjensen_queen-of-the-night.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/ezpixels.com\/mscblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/mjensen_queen-of-the-night-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"mjensen_queen-of-the-night\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-331\" \/><\/a>I was beginning to think the buds were damaged somehow but Steve Jones, our botany expert, surmised the cactus were probably waiting for some trigger to bloom and I think he was right. We woke up this morning to heavily overcast skies and a strong chance of rain.
