Happy New Year!

Even with all our rains lately, fireworks are banned at the moment. However, we can buy fireworks! That makes perfect sense, doesn’t it??! Anyway…if we want to see a display, we’ll need to go out of state. This image is a composite of several bursts from an evening of fireworks at the pier in Cayucos, California. Although the finale wasn’t quite this many bursts, it was one of the best we’ve seen.

Sun Kissed Granite

A quick end of day shot during an evening walk. I was hoping for some clouds and a nice sunset but this sun kissed granite boulder looks good too 🙂

Pinnacle Peak Patio

Taken with my Droidx smartphone at Pinnacle Peak Patio. If you’re in the Phoenix area and have not photographed this area yet, your time may be limited because the property us up for sale. I hate to see it go 🙁

Infrared Ants

Another shot from the Big Bugs exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden. I think this is the last week they are here and I think they are worth admission!

Santa in a Mac

Apparently, Santa uses a Mac? Actually…maybe not anymore since the model in this photo is now an antique! Thanks to my friend Jennifer W. who says it is probably a LCII..whatever that is 🙂

Tarantula Hawk

Here’s another photo from a recent trip to the Desert Museum in Tucson. This is a Pepsis Wasp which is commonly called a Tarantula Hawk. As the name implies, this wasp will swoop in and kill a Tarantula. I’ve never seen it in action but friends have.

Holiday Light Displays

You’re probably tired of seeing them but I never tire of moving my camera while shooting holiday lights. Swing your camera, doe-see-doe 🙂

Fun with Daddy Long Legs

I led a meetup to see the Big Bugs at the Desert Botanical Garden this morning. Even though the light was great, my photos were kind of boring so I decided to have a little fun with the Daddy Longs Legs. I added some textures and text to make him the star of a horror film 🙂
